The women’s national soccer team (a.ka. Banyana Banyana) are another step closer to qualifying for this year’s Olympic Games in Paris, France. They beat the Tanzania national team 3 – 0 in Dar es Salaam over the weekend. They will face Tanzania again this coming Tuesday the 27th of February, in Mbombela, Mpumalanga.
Tanzania has a 3 – 0 deficit to overcome, so the challenge is certainly steeper for them than for the South African team.
Mpumalanga are you ready for us?🤩

The team last qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016 and they failed to qualify in 2020 for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Should Banyana Banyana emerge victorious after Tuesday’s match, they will play either Nigeria or Cameroon. The winner of that game will qualify for the Olympic Games.
As reported by IOL, Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis said, “We want to make sure we finish the job and then concentrate on who we will play. We’ll then work out how we will plan for that match. We were a bit rusty at the start, but it was expected. We have not played a match this year.”
Banyana Banyana won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) for the first time in 2022 in Morocco, with Ellis as their coach.
