The glitz and glamour of awards season continued last night – it was the 77th BAFTAs’ (British Academy Film and Television Awards). The ceremony was held at the Royal Festival Hall in London, England.
The biggest winner of the night was Oppenheimer, taking away seven awards, followed by Poor Things with five awards, The Zone of Interest with three and The Holdovers winning two awards.
The President of the BAFTAs, William, the Prince of Wales, arrived on his own as his wife, Catherine, the Princess of Wales, continues to recover after undergoing surgery.

- Leading Actress: Emma Stone (Poor Things)
- Leading Actor: Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer)
- Supporting Actress: Da’Vine Joy Randolph (The Holdovers)
- Supporting Actor: Robert Downey Jr. (Oppenheimer)
- Director: Christopher Nolan (Oppenheimer)
- Best animated film: The Boy and the Heron (the first Japanese winner in this category)

A performance by Sophie Ellis-Bextor of her 2001 hit song, Murder on the Dancefloor, was well-received by guests at the ceremony. Her song has climbed up the charts again thanks to its inclusion in the final scene of the viral hit film Saltburn. On Spotify, the song currently has 369 169 278 streams.
After the BAFTAs, the Screen Actors Guild Awards will air on Netflix on 24 February, and thereafter, possibly the biggest awards show of the year will be the Academy Awards (the Oscars) which will take place on the 10th of March 2024.
