The DStv Premiership game between TS Galaxy and Mamelodi Sundowns was postponed by the Premier Soccer League (PSL) following a fatal car accident involving the Galaxy team bus.
The highly-anticipated match, TS Galaxy were set to host the Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday 6 March in Mpumalanga. However, the match was called off after the Galaxy team bus was involved in a head-on collision with a Volkswagen Polo while travelling between Pretoria and Mbombela.
The driver of the Polo lost their life in the accident, while fortunately, none of the occupants of the TS Galaxy bus sustained any serious injuries.

The PSL swiftly postponed the fixture, citing the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the accident.
The PSL said, “The PSL extends its understanding and support to TS Galaxy FC during this challenging period. We acknowledge the impact of this decision on all stakeholders and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi confirmed the team’s distress and announced plans to provide counselling services for those impacted by the incident.
On 12 December 2020, Mamelodi Sundowns player, Motjeka “Ace” Madisha, lost his life in a car accident shortly after the team celebrated their 50th anniversary. Fans heavily criticised the PSL for proceeding with a scheduled fixture between Mamelodi Sundowns and TS Galaxy just days after the players’ passing.
The PSL has clearly opted for a different approach in lieu of the recent accident, cancelling Wednesday’s fixture with no current updates as to when it will be rescheduled. “Details regarding the rescheduled fixture will be communicated in due course,” according to the PSL statement.
The ongoing feud between Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena and TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramović added to fans’ anticipation for the match, which will only continue until the new match date is announced.
