There’s always an entertaining bit or two in the world. So let’s have a little fun and see what’s been going on.

Let’s start with the Stanley Cup craze gripping the United States of America and even South Africa, with the Western Cape taking the cup (cough, cough) in online searches for the cup. Usually used by hunters, fishermen and other Dad (dy) types, the 111-year-old brand was thrust into prominence in 2022 with a profile in the New York Times. It then quickly showed upon #WaterTok, and the rest is history. One woman, Danielle Lettering, had her Stanley Cup survive a car fire. When she returned to retrieve the cup, it still had ice! This prompted the Stanley brand’s president, Terence Reilly, to stitch Danielle’s TikTok video, offering her a new car! And you can be part of the craze, too. Stanley Cups are available in South Aah and retail from R599.00 to R1199.00. Giving the Holy Grail a run for its money, huh, Stanley?

Moving right on🤭. Rightwing pundit Candace Owens has waged a holy war on Ariana Grande, of all people. On her podcast, Owens came after Grande’s new song “Yes, And?” released on 12 January 2024 and debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The song’s lyrics address Grande’s personal life and physical health, which were the subject of rumours and speculation, especially her marriage to and divorce from Dalton Gomez, weight loss and homewrecking allegations levelled against her by new boyfriend Ethan Slater’s ex-wife Lilly Jay. Now, Owens, who, according to her, is fascinated by “hoes”, said Grande was “disgusting” for allegedly breaking up the marriage. “I actually think that she suffers from some random hoe disorder where she likes it when a man is taken,” said Owens. Methinks the lady doth protest too much. Entertainment is driving Owens crazy. Here’s hoping that satanic Munchkins don’t come after her.

Speaking of Munchkins, singer and actress Halle Bailey, 23, revealed why she kept her pregnancy a secret last year, only announcing that she and partner rapper DDG, 26, had welcomed their first child together in 2023. On a recent Q&A on Snapchat, Bailey said that she wanted to keep her pregnancy beautiful and private. “I feel like sometimes, as people in the limelight, people feel like they want to know every little thing about their life, but I think it’s really beautiful if you keep some things private and sacred,” said Bailey.
