BRIEF: South African military ends hijab ban

Did you know that South Africa National Defence Force (SANDF) had a religious dress policy that prevented Muslim women from wearing Hijabs (head scarves) with their military uniforms? Neither did we! But following a two-year battle by Major Fatima Isaacs, the army changed the policy this week and dropped charges against her. She can wear her head wrap as long as it doesn’t cover her ears, is wrapped tightly and is plain black in colour.
